Members install and play games recommended inside the app, earn units for their playtime and progress, and redeem those units for gift cards and prepaid cards in the app's Shop.
This Mistplay review explains how the app works, who can use it, and how it pays, based only on what Mistplay publishes about itself. It also looks at PocketsFull as an alternative way to earn rewards online.
What Mistplay is
Mistplay is run by Mistplay Inc., which also does business as Mistplay or 481 Studios according to its terms of use. The App Store lists Mistplay Inc. as the seller, and Google Play lists Mistplay Inc with an address in Montreal, Canada.

How members earn on Mistplay
Units are mainly earned by playing mobile games launched through the Mistplay app. Active playtime and reaching in-game milestones add units, and each game has its own unit multiplier.
- Daily play streaks and daily tasks.
- Boosted games and special events.
- Tournaments, checkpoint rewards and other in-app features.
- Inviting friends through the referral program, available in selected countries.
- Loyalty gems, awarded for in-app purchases in eligible games, which can be exchanged for units.
- Surveys and quizzes, listed in the iPhone app's App Store description.
GXP, or game experience, can be earned on a single game for at most two hours per day, and idle time does not earn units.
How Mistplay pays and who can join
Mistplay's payout options include gift cards from retailers such as Amazon, Google Play, Walmart, Starbucks, Sephora, Target, DoorDash, Uber, Xbox and GameStop, a Visa prepaid card, and a PayPal reward sent to the member's email address. Reward options vary by region, currency and member.
Mistplay does not publish a minimum payout amount. It says a reward can be redeemed once a member has the minimum points needed for a gift card in the Shop, and Google Play states that minimum redemption thresholds apply, but no figure is given outside the app.
New users must be at least 18 years old, and the app is free to download and use with no credit card required. Full sign-up must be completed before gift cards can be redeemed, and VPN use is not allowed under the terms of use. Under the terms, a member can redeem at most $550 USD, or the local equivalent, in gift cards or other rewards per calendar year, and units expire if none are earned within a 180-day period, with 30 days' prior notice given first.
Mistplay does not publish a full country list. Its help center says it is working on expanding the number of countries it covers. The iPhone app is offered to users in the US or Canada, and the referral program is available in the United States, Canada, France, Great Britain, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and Korea. Availability for other countries is not confirmed on the pages checked.
The Android app is available on Google Play for Android 7 and up, and shows over 50 million downloads with a Teen content rating. The iPhone app, released in January 2025 for users in the US or Canada, carries an 18+ age rating in the App Store and includes an optional in-app purchase, Premium MistPass, billed monthly. Points earned in the iPhone app cannot be transferred to Mistplay on other operating systems. No web version for earning is described on the pages checked.

How PocketsFull differs
PocketsFull is a rewards site where members complete paid surveys and offers, including many game and app offers, and redeem the rewards they earn. Joining and using PocketsFull is free, and no deposit or payment is ever asked for.
Where Mistplay centers on playing games inside its own app, PocketsFull members can also take market-research surveys and complete other partner offers, such as trying an app or signing up for a service. PocketsFull has an Android app on Google Play, and the website also works in a phone browser. It also has a separate free-games page with free browser games that are for fun and do not pay rewards.
On PocketsFull, the minimum age to join is 13, and anyone under 18 needs consent from a parent or legal guardian. One account per person is allowed, and VPNs, made-up details or duplicate accounts can lead to an account being restricted or suspended.
