Chess earning app: what you should know before you download one
A chess earning app usually means one of two things: an app that pays you real cash or prizes for playing chess matches against other people for stakes, or a regular rewards app that gives you small rewards for completing offers, one of which might be a chess or board game you install and play to a certain level.

The first kind runs into Indian law. The Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act 2025 bans online money games, which the law defines as games played for a fee, deposit or stake where the player expects to win money, whether the game involves skill or chance. The Online Gaming Rules 2026 came into force on 1 May 2026 and apply this ban across India, so an app that asks you to stake money on a chess match, even a skill game, is not something you can use legally in India.
PocketsFull is the second kind. It does not take deposits or stakes, and chess or board game offers on it work like any other offer: you play to reach the steps the offer lists, and that adds a reward to your account.
Is playing chess for money legal in India
Under the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act 2025, an online money game is any game, including a skill game like chess, that is played by paying a fee or putting down a stake with an expectation of winning money or something of value. Offering such games, advertising them and taking payments for them are all covered by the ban.
Free games with no entry fee and no stake are treated differently under the law and are called online social games, and these are not banned. So a chess app that charges nothing to play and pays nothing for winning a match is on different legal footing to one that asks you to deposit money to compete for cash.
Rules in this area can change, and enforcement details can differ by state and by app. Check the current rules where you live before using any app that involves stakes.
What a safe chess earning app looks like
If an app asks you to add money before you can play, treat that as a warning sign, not an opportunity. A legitimate rewards app never asks you to pay to start earning.
- No deposit or entry fee is asked for before you can use any feature.
- Rewards come from completing tasks such as surveys or offers, not from staking money against other players.
- The app is upfront about how long a reward takes to be confirmed.
- Reviews and app store listings do not claim that winnings are certain or without risk.
PocketsFull does not take a deposit or a stake from anyone, on chess offers or on anything else. Joining is free, and whatever you earn comes from completing surveys and offers, not from putting money at risk.
How PocketsFull offers work with chess and board games
On PocketsFull, chess and other board games can appear as game offers on the Offers page. Each offer lists its own steps, for example installing the game, opening it or reaching a certain level, and its own reward.
Some offers take between 7 and 30 days to confirm, because the partner behind the offer has to check that the steps were completed before the reward is added to your balance. The offer page always shows its own confirmation time.
PocketsFull also has a separate free-games page with browser games that need no download and no sign-up. These are for fun only and do not add any reward to your account, so do not confuse them with the game offers on the Offers page.
How you can redeem what you earn
Rewards you collect from surveys and offers on PocketsFull go towards gift cards and other redeem options shown on the redeem screen. For members in India, that list includes local gift cards such as Amazon, Flipkart and PLAYSTATION.
UPI is also on the redeem screen for members in India, paid to a UPI ID, so an ID linked to apps such as Paytm, PhonePe or Google Pay works. PayPal and Litecoin are listed as well. The exact options you see depend on your country.
PocketsFull does not pay out to any payment app or wallet beyond what is listed on the redeem screen, so if you were looking for a different option, check the redeem screen in the app for what is currently available to you.

Frequently asked questions
Can I legally earn money playing chess online in India?
Playing chess for a stake or entry fee with an expectation of winning money falls under the online money games ban in the Online Gaming Rules 2026, in force from 1 May 2026, so that is not legal in India. Free chess games with no stake are treated differently and are not covered by this ban.
Does PocketsFull pay you to play chess?
PocketsFull does not run staked chess matches. Chess or board games can appear as game offers on the Offers page, where you reach the steps the offer lists to add a reward to your balance, and there is a separate free-games page for chess and other games played purely for fun with no reward.
Is there a fee to join PocketsFull or play its offers?
No. Joining PocketsFull is free, and it never asks for a deposit or a payment before you can complete surveys or offers.
Can I get paid through other payment apps or wallets?
PocketsFull only pays out through the options shown on the redeem screen, which for India include local gift cards, UPI to a UPI ID, PayPal and Litecoin. Other payment apps are not listed as redeem options.
Why was I disqualified from a survey while waiting for chess offers to confirm?
Survey providers look for specific profiles, so being screened out before the end happens to everyone from time to time and is not a sign of a problem with your account. Keeping your profile accurate and up to date helps you get matched with more surveys that fit you.
