Reversi is the classic Othello board game played on an eight by eight grid. Two players take turns placing disks showing their assigned color face up. The goal is simple to state but tricky to master: end the game with more of your color showing on the board than your opponent has.
How to play Reversi
Place a disk on an empty square so that a straight line of your opponent's disks sits between your new disk and another disk of your color. Every opponent disk trapped in that line flips to your color. Players alternate turns doing this until the board fills up. Whoever has the majority of disks in their color when the last empty square is filled wins the game.
Tips for playing Reversi
- Try to control the corners, since disks placed there can never be flipped by your opponent.
- Avoid placing disks next to a corner early on, as that often lets your opponent take the corner itself.
- Having fewer disks on the board in the early and middle game can actually give you more flipping options later.
