Battleships is the classic board game of naval strategy, playable free in your browser. You place five ships on a grid and take turns firing at your opponent's hidden fleet. The goal is simple: figure out where the enemy ships are hiding before your opponent finds yours, and sink every one of them first.

How to play Battleships

Start by placing your five ships anywhere on your grid. Once placement is done, take turns firing shots at your opponent's grid, trying to guess where their ships are hidden. Your opponent fires back at your grid at the same time. Keep track of hits and misses to narrow down ship locations. The game ends when one side has sunk all five of the other's ships.

Tips for playing Battleships

• Spread your five ships out across the grid instead of clustering them, so one lucky guess cannot hit two ships at once.
• When you land a hit, fire at the squares directly next to it, since ships occupy a straight line of connected spaces.
• Keep a mental note of missed shots so you do not waste turns firing at the same empty squares twice.
