Game studios pay PlaytestCloud to run these playtests, and a tester gets a fixed reward for each one completed to the stated requirements.
PlaytestCloud is a different kind of product from PocketsFull, which runs paid surveys and offers rather than invitation-only playtests.
What PlaytestCloud is
PlaytestCloud is run by PlaytestCloud GmbH in Berlin, Germany, and its tester FAQ says it was founded in 2014. It is a micro-task service: testers are invited by email to specific playtests rather than picking tasks freely from a list.
Playtests come in several forms: a single recorded play session followed by a survey, longitudinal playtests with a daily recording over several days, multi-session playtests with breaks in between, multiplayer sessions at a set time slot, concept tests where a tester gives spoken feedback on ideas or ad designs, in-app interviews and focus groups, kids playtests done with a parent or guardian, and standalone written surveys.
Anyone can join the player panel from anywhere, but PlaytestCloud says most playtests are for players in the USA, UK and Canada, so testers elsewhere should expect fewer invitations and less often.
Playtests run through the PlaytestCloud app, on Android phones and tablets with Android 10 or later, on iPhone and iPad with recent iOS versions, or on Windows PC only. Before taking part, a new tester completes an unpaid onboarding test that checks their spoken commentary and device, and testers must not work in the games industry.

What to look for in a similar app
When comparing paid playtesting or micro-task apps, check a few plain things before signing up.
- Whether tasks are invitation-only or open to pick from a list at any time.
- Which devices and operating system versions are supported, since older or budget phones are often excluded.
- Whether there is an unpaid onboarding or qualifying step before paid tasks start.
- Which payout methods are offered, and whether any of them depend on where the tester lives.
- Whether the service says how often invitations arrive, especially for testers outside its main markets.
- Whether a personal detail like a postal address is required and why.

How PocketsFull is different
PocketsFull is a rewards site, not a playtesting service. Members take paid surveys from survey providers and complete offers, including game and app offers where the task is to install or open a game and reach the steps the offer lists.
There is no invitation email and no recorded screen or voice: a member browses the Earn page and picks surveys and offers that are open to them, rather than waiting to be chosen for a session.
Joining and using PocketsFull is free, and no deposit is ever asked for. Rewards build up as a balance that a member redeems for gift cards, and not every survey fits every person, so being screened out before the end happens to everyone from time to time.
PocketsFull also has a separate section of free browser games with no download and no sign-up, but those are for fun and do not pay rewards.
