How idle and clicker games are built

An idle or clicker game asks you to tap, upgrade and wait while numbers go up on screen. The game itself is often free to download, and it earns money for its maker mainly through the ads it shows you.

Real-money games and the law in India

Under the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act 2025, online money games, where a fee, deposit or stake is paid with an expectation of winnings, are not allowed in India under the Online Gaming Rules 2026. This applies whether the game depends on skill or chance.

Free games that do not involve any stake are treated differently and remain allowed as ordinary social games. The safe way to read any clicker or tap app is simple: if it asks you to put money in before you can take money out, stay away from it, no matter what the app calls itself.
